What to eat (and buy) in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

What specialties can we try in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and if possible, buy to bring home? In this post I want to focus on three top quality products that are difficult to find in Western countries: camel milk, different types of dates and Arabic coffee “qahwa”.

A guide of Turkish foods to try

Turkish cuisine is one of the largest and most varied in the entire world. The numerous Mediterranean ingredients with an enormous territorial extension and a very ancient history inherited from several centuries of splendor of the Ottoman Empire are united in this culture. That is why it’s impossible to summarize all of its culinary offerings here, but this guide will serve as a comprehensive introduction to its most popular foods.

What to eat in Vienna (and where)

Vienna, capital of Austria, is one of the most important cultural centers in Europe. Every corner of the streets shows some gem of Vienna’s glorious imperial past and its deep relationship with art throughout history. Many famous names appear wherever we look: Mozart, Schubert, Freud, Kllimt, Schiele, Marie Antoinette, the Empress Sisi, waltzes and operettas, Schönbrunn and Belvedere castles, St. Stephen’s Cathedral… And as for gastronomy, these are the dishes and places that are not to be missed.

Typical dishes of Czech cuisine

Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, is one of the most visited European cities on the entire continent. Along with the beauty of its streets, its architectural richness and a fascinating culture, its important gastronomy also stands out. Due to both geographical and historical reasons, typical Czech dishes have a clear Bavarian and Austro-Hungarian influence, but always with their own unmistakable imprint.

My favorite foods of Finland

Among the many touristic attractions of Finland, surely the unforgettable northern lights occupy the first place. But what about its gastronomy? Well, here is a brief review of my favorite foods after my visit to Helsinki and Lapland.

Which foods are worth to bring from Greece?

This is a list with some of my favorite products and ingredients that I usually bring back from every trip to Greece. I have avoided those such as fresh cheeses, since you will not be able to take them on long trips without compromising their quality. Depending on where you live, you may find here some items which are easy to get in your region. But even so, I invite you to take note of these suggestions, probably more than one will surprise you!

Every cheese you should try in Italy

If you are visiting Italy and like me, you want to discover new local products, then consider spending a little time on cheeses. The ones listed in this article are some that I think you shouldn’t miss out. All of them are very tasty and recommended, and the order in the list does not imply a particular preference.

The traditional pizzerias in Buenos Aires everybody should visit

Anyone who has visited Buenos Aires knows well that Argentinian pizza is different from all the others. Don’t expect to find the typical Italian pizza with very thin dough, and delicate touches of tomato and mozzarella. Absolutely not. On the contrary, in Buenos Aires you will find a high dough, called “media masa”, with a significant amount of cheese. And you probably won’t be able to eat more than 2 or 3 slices!

The most surprising meat served in Iceland

As expected, the cuisine of Iceland is based above all on different types of fish. But there are two meats in particular that are served in some restaurants on the island and deserve a separate comment: whale and puffin.

My 25 favorite Greek mezedes

“Mezedes” is the Greek equivalent of mezze in Middle Eastern countries. These are small dishes served simultaneously, similar to Spanish tapas. They can be taken both as an appetizer and as a main course, and are usually accompanied with ouzo or raki. Hundreds of dishes can be counted in this category, but I have chosen here the 25 that I consider to be the most common and that are my favourites.
